I designed the assessments and course materials in Moodle, coached the Lead instructor on best practices for teaching live online classes, facilitated Zoom meetings and monitored the Slack channels as a Senior Teaching Fellow for the Summer 2021 Leadership Academy, an online course co-sponsored by UMass Amherst and the Harvard Kennedy School,
Designed to encourage creativity and innovation in electronics, Practical Electronics for New Collar Jobs is a project based online course offered by New Collar Network. Teaching the foundational concepts of electronics – from how electricity works to designing circuits and using equipment commonly found in electronics labs it is aligned with NGSS NEXT Generation Science Standards, and students will earn a micro-credential at completion. I developed all of the content for this course: research, design, copy, narration, video demonstrations, animations, illustrations and hands-on projects.
I led and designed this Building Collaborative Cultures in Maker Spaces and Fab Labs as a design swarm for Teachers, and Administrators of FabLabs and Maker Spaces. This hands-on workshop is built on a successful framework for team collaboration and provides an opportunity to practice essential collaboration and communication skills.
I was contracted by Clean Properties Engineering to lead a development team building a working prototype of a breakthrough electronics measurement tool. The team was made up of a Scrum Mater, two embedded systems engineers and a Product Owner. We worked in weekly sprits, and used JIRA, GitHUB, and Agile Scrum techniques.
I led the design and development of 8 Massive Open Online Courses (aka MOOCS) for edX/MITx which involved managing a development team, working closely with professors to design their course, managing the production of video lectures and demonstrations, overseeing the development of animations and illustrations, managing live class sessions and designing as well as designing, developing and piloting new learning tools. The courses included: 14.73x: The Challenges of Global Poverty, 16.101x: Introduction to Aerodynamics, 16.110x: Flight Vehicle Aerodynamics, 21x.789x: Building Mobile Experiences, 3.086x: Innovation and Commercialization, 8MReV: Mechanical ReView & 6.002x: Circuits and Electronics.
In my decade long career at UMass Boston, I collaborated with the University Deans to expand the use of online and flipped classrooms from a single course into thousands of them. I developed and led numerous professional development workshop, worked closely with hundreds of faculty to design their digital curriculum materials, led the migration of courses to new Learning Management Systems, evaluated dozens educational technology tools, and established and managed several large projects including UMass Boston’s OpenCourseWare collection, the UMassBoston Blog Network and the university’s Google classrooms.
