I’ve been working in technology, media and education my entire career. I started in New York producing commercial spots and moved to Boston to start a video production company. I produced hundreds of television and film programs for the burgeoning tech sector in Greater Boston before moving to Lotus Development Corporation in Cambridge MA where I managed the Video and Multimedia Department.
Alway fascinated by how humans decode complex information, I earned a Master’s Degree at Harvard Graduate School of Education in the Learning Design, Innovation, & Technology program. Shortly after graduating I moved to Los Angeles to start a design, production and research company where I led the creation of numerous television programs, film, multimedia, video games, and special effects for companies like Activision, Digital Domain, Disney, NBC, CBS, PBS, Sony, Universal Studios and others. In those years I also taught at UCLA and the American Film Institute, was an Emmy judge and produced the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences annual children’s Interactive Media Festival.
A decade later I was teaching at UMass Boston and leading a Learning Lab that supported faculty who were developing online and flipped classes. I became an expert in a wide variety of Learning Management Systems and content creation tools and with a grant from the Boston Foundation I started the state of Massachusetts first open courseware project and published over a hundred online courses shared with a creative commons license. Recruited by MIT, I helped to start up MITx and managed the development of many of the first MITx MOOCs while the Edx platform was still in beta. My passion for the power of educational technology to transform teaching and learning led me to work in public school districts as both an administrator and teacher where I worked for several years.
I’m an innovative educational technology professional and expert instructional designer who is well versed in a variety of Content and Learning Management Systems (CMS and LMS) as well as in digital media content development tools. I have a flexible mindset, open to new ideas and ways of doing things.
